You wrote a to-do list on Monday. By Wednesday it's on the back of an envelope somewhere, or in a notes app you forgot to open, and by Friday evening you're not sure how much of it you actually got through.

If you use Memory Chat, a Checklist Box keeps the list, your progress and the details behind each task in one place, and it works the same with or without a connection.

## What a Checklist Box gives you

Each list lives in its own box, so the groceries, the work project and the family chores don't pile into one long scroll. You tap a task once to mark it done, and a counter at the top shows how far along you are, something like 7 of 12. Any task can carry comments, photos, files or a voice note, which helps when "call the landlord" needs the lease PDF and the number attached. And because the list is stored on your phone, you can check things off in a basement supermarket or on a flight.

## Building one, step by step

Let's say you're getting ready for a trip.

1. Tap Add Checklist and give it a clear name, like Trip Prep
1. Add each task with Add Checklist Item, such as book airport parking, renew travel insurance, pack chargers
1. Open a task's comments for the extra steps
1. Tick tasks off and watch the counter
1. Press and hold a task or list to set a reminder or add it to favorites
The comments are where it gets useful. Under "travel insurance" you might put the policy number and a photo of last year's certificate, and if typing is a pain while you're packing, a voice note works just as well. By the time you leave, the list doubles as a record of what you did and where you put things.

## Where checklists fit in your day

A student might keep one list per course for assignments and exam prep, while at work it's handy for breaking a project into steps or preparing for a meeting. If you run your own business, a list per launch or delivery keeps the moving parts visible. At home, one list for chores and another for the weekly shop save a lot of "did anyone buy milk?" messages, and since each list can live in the same Section as that project's notes, budget and reminders, you're not hunting across apps for the context.

What's the list you're carrying around in your head this week? Errands, probably. Make it a Checklist Box tonight. [Get started with Memory Chat](/en/).
